About
Locally called Pasar Senggol or Pasar Malam Gianyar, this street-food market sets up every evening on Jalan Ngurah Rai near Gianyar's royal palace, with stalls rolling out from around 3pm and peaking after sunset. It is best known for babi guling, Bali's spit-roasted suckling pig, chopped to order and served over rice with crispy skin, lawar (spiced minced meat with coconut) and pork broth on the side, alongside satay lilit and nasi campur. Unlike markets built for visitors, it is where Gianyar families eat dinner most nights, so the food has changed little from what has been served here for years.
